• Kid connection

First Baptist Church of Altoona hosts Kid Connection for ages PK to 6th grade every Sunday evening during the school year from 6-7:15 PM.

I am vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

  • Youth group

Wednesday evenings 6:45-8:15 PM. Students in 7th to 12 grade that come will be spiritually challenged by the Word of God and relationally challenged in mutual ministry time with one another in small groups. These small groups give students a time to participate in prayer, accountability, fellowship, discussion, and application.

    Our Mission and Vision:

Why First Baptist Church Youth Group exists.

    1.  Enable students to have a relationship with God.

    2. Equip students for Gospel living.

    3. Be sent out to the world.

    4. Manifest Christ's Love to the unloved.

Enable Students to Have a Relationship with God

A student’s relationship with God is the most important relationships that we have in this life. It is our vision to see a ministry where student’s know the Lord and constantly work on making Jesus their everything.

Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

    Equip Students for Gospel Living

It is our mission as a youth ministry to be able to present the gospel to the students that attend our group on a weekly basis. We want our students who are maturing in their faith to know how to pursue and keep on living in a Christ like manor. There are tools that every Christian in every stage of life needs and it is the vision of the youth group to see leaders equipping our students to be that role model for others by showing them what Gods word says and actually living it out in our daily lives.

Ephesians 4:11-16 “And he (Jesus) gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, make the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

Be Sent Out to the World

Christ should not be stagnant in our church. We must send our equipped students, who are focused on spreading the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, out into the world through the words that they say and the actions that are make.

Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 9:37-38 “Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."

Manifest Christs love to the unloved

It is the mission of our youth group to have the motive behind everything that we do be love. Especially those who do not experience the same love that Christians have received from our Lord Jesus Christ when we accepted the free gift of eternal life though Christ’s death, burial and Resurrection.

John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

Ephesians 5:2 “…and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

  • Reapers food ministry

Our vision is to Reach Every Altoona Person In Need Gladly. We do this by purchasing food to give to those in need that live in Altoona and the surrounding area. Every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, we give groceries to families in need. To date we give food to 300-400 families twice a month. As we give out this food we seek to share the Love of Christ verbally.

"I thought Reapers was just a food bank. I was wrong. It is believers sharing Christ and feeding our community with food and God's goodness." - Molly

"Reapers is a wonderful ministry. It has helped my daughter and I with much needed food. I like to hear the sharing of scripture and prayer requests." - Sue
